Invention, intellectual property and income¶
1. Weekly Brief Summary¶
This week I set out how to promote the project and license the project.
I’ve decided to sell the project I’ve created as an accessory in stores and develop it as a workshop kit for the Fab Space I’m creating in Kuriyama-cho, Hokkaido.
Also, as I would like to develop and sell the accessories myself, I have decided to set the project license to “Attribution-NonCommercial-Modification Prohibited”.
2. Weekly Assignment Requirement¶
Individual assignment
- Develop a plan for dissemination of your final project.
- Prepare drafts of your summary slide (presentation.png, 1920x1080) and video clip (presentation.mp4, 1080p HTML5, < ~minute, < ~10 MB) and put them in your root directory
Learning outcomes
- Formulate future opportunities
Have you?
- Outlined future possibilities and described how to make them probabilities
- Prepared a draft summary slide and video
4. Description of Assignment Work¶
Dissemination¶
I would like to sell the accessories that I made this time.
In Japan, there are many events where you can wear a kimono or a yukata and go out casually.
In spring, there are entrance ceremonies and cherry blossom viewing, in summer and fall, festivals and fireworks displays, and in winter, graduation ceremonies.
Many people also rent kimonos and yukatas to wear at these events from rental shops.
So we think we can sell accessories in partnership with the rental shops.
In order to prepare the video for the presentation, I rented a rental shop near the lab I used the And I was impressed with the response from the shopkeepers there.
I also received feedback from a woman who approached me during the photo shoot and said she wanted to wear it at the festival.
And through this accessory, I hope to develop a workshop kit to get women in their 20s and 30s interested in the world of digital fabrication.
From my previous experience of working at a FabSpace that targets female customers, I feel that the interest of women is important in order for digital fabrication to be widely recognized.
Licensing¶
Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives¶
A CC license that allows for the free redistribution of a work under the following conditions: the original author’s credit (name, title of the work, etc.) is displayed, the work is non-commercial, and the main condition is that the work is not altered.
Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International
I chose this license because I sold this project on my own initiative and will continue to This is because I are going to try to reduce the weight, strengthen the structure and diversify the design.
I also want to develop a workshop kit so that commercial use and modification of the activity by third parties is not It was determined that this would be a hindrance.

Outlook for the Project¶
How will it be selled?
I don’t plan to sell this as an accessory to the public. I plan to sell this accessory as a workshop kit for the FabLab I am setting up.
How will you distribute your work?
The accessories will be sold as FabLab Kuriyama workshop kits in the lab only.
Where will you get the money?
I will get this as a purchase of a workshop kit.
How much will it cost?
The cost of materials is ¥5,700, so we are thinking of selling it as a kit at ¥7,000 to ¥8,000.
Will you scale up if the demand overexceed the job you can do?
It currently weighs 9g, but I’d like to create a circuit that can run on a single button battery and evolve it into a lighter, more wearable accessory.
Will you contract or talk with other fab labs or fabbers to make distributed production?
There are currently no plans to collaborate with other labs on projects with accessory workshop kits.
5. Description of Important Weekly Learning Outcome¶
The majority of Internet users and digital fabrication users who are not legal experts But make sure that the main content of the license is clearly understood, and misuse of the license It is important to understand that the “Creative Commons License” aims to prevent I have been able to do this.
In the future, as a lab manager, I will be able to provide support for the users to properly present their work to the world.
