This week was focussed to become familiarised with 3D scanning and printing.
3D printing refers to processes in which material is joined or solidified under computer control to create a three-dimensional object with material being added together
. 3D printing is used in both rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing (AM). Objects can be of almost any shape or geometry and typically are produced using digital model data from a 3D model or another electronic data source such as an Additive Manufacturing File (AMF).
we have two FDM printers, an Ultimaker 2 and a Dimension SST 1200 i our lab
Before printing our we test printed a model from internet in Ultimaker.
i used openscad to design my 3d design. Openscad is command based 3d designing tool. You can use mathematical and logical operation to create a 3d object. I made a turners cube in openScad.
I loaded output from openScad to Cura software to make any necesary changes.
I printed the turners cube on both Ultimaker2 and Dimension which are in the lab.
