5. 3D Scanning and printing

The Group assignment of this week is to test the design rules for your 3D printer. To this was partially accomplished in the Pre-work. So we experimented extended parameters of bridges to see what happened. How much the printer can realize what we expected.

Tools used this week

Design : Unsupported Angle (0-90degree )& Bridge (10-20mm, 20-30mm and 30-40mm)

Design Bridge

Slicer : Ultimaker Cura 4.8.0

Cure1 Cure2 Printer : Creality Ender -3 Pro

Printer

Material : PLA 1.75mm Black

Material

  • [How to use Cure and Endor-3Pro] (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1WowEw-5vyQzZUg4UaJ6tA44_6GJPHBnhATjZ77lZGpA/edit#)

Test results

Angle

We found that 0(zero) and 10 degree needed supports. Depends on requirements, 20 degree might need support to have expected printing result. In terms of other degrees, the Endor -3 Pro would be print a model without support.

Bridge

We tested three sets of bridges printed without supports.

  • 20-30mm 20mm side printed properly. As for 30mm side, felt very slight hanging if touched.
  • 30-40mm 40mm side we can see slight hanging. Depends on accuracy needs, it would be acceptable.
  • 40-50mm 50mm side we saw hanging started from left point slightly to mid point very moderately.
