WEEK09 - Output Devices

This week was Input Devices. We all worked individually on our devices and decided to measure and probe a phototransistor on our boards for the group Assignment.

WEEK NINE ASSIGNMENT

Assignments Completed
GROUP
- measure the power consumption of an output device ok

MEASURING SPEAKER

Power = V x I ( Watt)

for voltage that looks like this on an oscilloscope:

  _ _ _ _ _
_| |_| |_| |_| |_| |_

this means that the voltage is changing this means that you cannot use a multimeter to measure the power consumption accurately in this instance. You HAVE to use an oscilloscope for non-static energy

The speaker output was not so easy to measure: –> place one end on the GND –> place second end on the resistor

But this kind of proved more difficult than we thought, somehow it just didn’t work right. So in favour of supply-sight time-management we moved on to measuring and LED which can indeed be measured using a multimeter

MEASURING LED

IMG 4260

To measure the LED still the same formula applied.

first we measured the sVolt –> then we measured the LED = 2.8 Volt

( you have to measure both the volt and the current (amphere))

Volt: 2.8 V Current: 1.63 mA.

Formula: PW = V x I

= 4.564 Watt ( this is the powerconsumption of the LED)
