1.3 My workflow of the week

  • I decide to to embroidery work this week.

  • Draw a 2D Seeed logo using INKSCAPE

  • Use the embroidery machine to produce it

  • Sew it onto one of my shirts

2. How i did it

2.0 HeroShot of the week

21

2.1 Draw a 2D Seeed logo using INKSCAPE and use Sew Art to export .pes file

Drawed the logo pic in from INKSCAPE and then exported to .svg. As the Brother Innovis 950 machine only recognize .pes so i will need an embroidery software - which i use SewArt to finish the work.

7

  • Design the embroidery toolpath

step: for pattern 8, for letters 4

len:10

angle:0

21

Save as .pes file

10

2.2 Use the embroidery machine to produce it

  • Download the manual of Brother Innovis950 from the official website and follow the instructions Winding/Installing the Bobbin, Upper Threading as well as sewing.

5

  • However it didn’t work - the thread always break after a few times of sewing. So i started to do the debugging.

6

  • It turns out that the cause of the problem is wrong match of the embroidery foot. The foot i used was for sewing “J” and the right one should be “Q”

11

I then redo the process.

  • Presser foot attachment.

11

  • Embroidery unit attachment

11

  • Bobbin thread setup

3

11

  • Fabric preparation && Embroidery frame attachment

11

  • Pattern selection && checking the layout

11

  • Embroidery

2.3 Sew it onto one of my shirts

3. Problems Occurred & Solutions

3.1 The thread at the beginner always broke several times after starting embroidery

The cause turned out to be that i didn’t use the correct presser foot. Should have used “Q” instead of “J”
